Things to see and do
The gîte's rural location means that within two minutes of leaving
the front door you are in the woods and hills of the Vaucluse countryside
with a myriad of interesting way marked paths to follow, including the GR4
(Grande Randonnee) part of France's long distance trail network. The Dentelles
de Montmirail (shown left) are 15 minutes away.
Bring your bike (or hire one here) as the area is terrific for cycling both
on and off road. There are three signed routes from Vaison. If you felt up
to it you could tackle Mont Ventoux.
The ancient walled city of Avignon, with the huge and awe inspiring Papal
Palace is a must see, Avignon also boasts some wonderful clothes boutiques
for light retail therapy. The nearby town of Vaison is full of Roman ruins
and its weekly Tuesday market is quite something to behold. Leave space in
your car for all the goodies you will want to buy.
Let's not forget the hundreds of winery's in the area all of which are keen
to let you taste the fruits of their labours.
This truly is a wonderful part of France to explore. The official Provence
website has a lot more detail. We will always be happy to help you with
ideas for excursions and places to visit.
